REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR MOVING TO PERU

• Passport (original)
• Detailed inventory (avoid PBO items)
• Foreigners need a legalized copy of a Work Contract presented to the Ministry of Labor

CUSTOMS REGULATIONS

• CUSTOMER’S PRESENCE IN PERU IS REQUIRED FOR CUSTOMS CLEARANCE
• Household goods and personal effects dutiable (The average rate for duty and tax is 20%)
• Household goods previously exported from Peru may be imported duty-free with supporting documents (Inventory, Export Policy, etc.) stamped by Peruvian Customs
• Shipment must arrive before customers arrival or 120 days before customers arrival
• Customs will allow the importation of no more than one (1) electrical appliance of same kind on a 20% import duty basis. Additional similar electrical appliances will be charged at the rate of 33%.

PROHIBITED ITEMS

• Firearms (maximum caliber .38) and telecommunication equipment require a special license prior to arrival of goods
  • Firearms also require proof of ownership and a previous license must be obtained from the Ministry of Interior (no automatic arms are allowed) Subject to confiscation if requirements are not met
• Narcotics and drugs

 

• Pornographic material

 

• Explosives

 

• Telecommunications equipment

 

MOTOR VEHICLES

• Import duties and excise tax levied on all used cars, but the car cannot exceed five years of antiquity
• Autos not belonging to diplomats require an inspection before Customs clearance can be completed
  • Foreign Peruvian diplomats duty free
• Documents required:
  • Original commercial invoice – fully detailed (original)
  • Proof of ownership
  • Title
  • Certificate of inspection at origin issued by any international surveillance company such as SGS, SSI, Bureau Veritas

 

PETS

• Documents required:
  • Vaccination and Rabies vaccination Certificate
  • Health Certificate

It is my pleasure to write this letter regarding my case with your company and after some back and for and also some misunderstanding it was handled in the best professional way it could be done by your employee Eric Polacek since day one when I got in touch with Eric I knew I’ll get some results because I’ve been working in as Tech Support agent over there in Denver for almost 9 years and I know how to deal with customers and in any interaction try to do the best and get a better quality experience and that’s what I got from Eric not just took control of my case he  was a great listener and understood my frustration at some point but again I’m glad he took ownership about the whole situation and for sure made me feel confident that my moving case everything in place and give me any update regarding further steps that may need to be done.
